  • Evelyn Padin was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey on May 25, 2022.
  • Previously, she was Senior Managing Partner of the Law Offices of Evelyn Padin, and her areas of practice include family law and civil litigation. She is a former Jersey City municipal court judge.
  • Padin served as president of the New Jersey State Bar Association and was the first Latina president in the organization’s history. 
  • Padin also served on the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Association for Justice. She is also a founder of the Carevel Foundation, whose mission is to educate and empower underrepresented community members in Jersey City.
  • If confirmed, Padin would be only the second active Latina judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
  • Padin received her B.A. from Rutgers University in 1983, her Master of Social Work from the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service in 1985, and her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1992. She clerked for Judge Lorraine Parker of the Sussex Superior Court.
