Since 2007, Judge Jane Beckering has served on the Michigan Court of Appeals, where she is the Chief Judge Pro Tempore of the court. She has seventeen years of experience as a trial lawyer and is the founder of Buchanan & Beckering, which focuses on representing plaintiffs in civil litigation.
Buchanan & Beckering represented plaintiffs in medical negligence, catastrophic personal injury cases, and wrongful death claims.
In 2016, Judge Beckering helped protect the gray wolf, of which there were fewer than 650 at the time in Michigan, by ruling to strike down a statute that allowed the species to be hunted. The decision was praised by animal protection groups.
Judge Beckering has been listed as one of “The Best Lawyers in America” by her peers in 2006, and was named one of the Top 100 Lawyers and Top 50 Women Lawyers by Michigan Super Lawyers.
Judge Beckering received her B.A. from the University of Michigan, and graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
