- Montecalvo serves as Rhode Island’s top Public Defender, a role that
she has been in since 2020. Prior to that, she served in multiple
roles in the state Public Defender’s office, including as a trial
attorney from 2004 to 2010, an appellate attorney from 2010 to 2014,
and then Chief of the Appellate Division of the statewide office from
2014 to 2020. - Montecalvo served as trial lawyer in the Tax Division for the
Department of Justice from 2002-2004. - Montecalvo earned a B.A. degree from Swarthmore College in 1996 before
graduating from Boston College Law School in 2000.
