- Lara Montecalvo was confirmed the to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on September 14, 2022.
- Previously, Montecalvo served as Rhode Island’s top Public Defender, a role that she held from 2020. Prior to that, she served in multiple roles in the state Public Defender’s office, including as a trial attorney from 2004 to 2010, an appellate attorney from 2010 to 2014, and then Chief of the Appellate Division of the statewide office from 2014 to 2020.
