Nina Morrison was confirmed to the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of New York on June 8, 2022.
Previously, Morrison was an attorney at the Innocence Project from 2002, serving as Senior Litigation Counsel and previously Executive Director. She represented approximately thirty wrongly-convicted prisoners whom she helped free from incarceration or death sentences based on newly discovered evidence.
From 1998 to 2002, Morrison was an attorney at Emery Cuti Brinckerhoff & Abady PC, where she focused on civil rights litigation.
From 1992 to 1995, Morrison was an investigator for the California Appellate Project, which represents death row inmates in post-conviction hearings.
If confirmed, Morrison would be the second openly LGBTQ judge on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Morrison received her B.A. from Yale University in 1992 and her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1998. She clerked for Judge Pierre Leval of the Second Circuit.
