  • Amir Ali was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on November 20th, 2024.
  • Previously, he served as president and executive director of the MacArthur Justice Center, which advocates for people harmed by the criminal legal system, since 2021. He has represented victims of police abuse and has won three cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. 
  • Since 2018,  Ali has been director of the Criminal Justice Appellate Clinic at Harvard Law School and has taught at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law.
  • Ali was an associate at Jenner & Block from 2013 to 2017.
  • Ali clerked for Justice Marshall Rothstein on the Supreme Court of Canada and Judge Raymond C. Fisher on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
