Jeannette Vargas is an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, a role she has had since 2002. She has been Deputy Chief in the Civil Division of that office since 2016. Prior to that, Vargas was as an associate at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP between 2000 to 2001. She served as a law clerk for Judge Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2001 to 2002. Vargas received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2000 and her A.B from Harvard College in 1995.
