  • Judge Jinsook Ohta was confirmed by the Senate on December 17th, 2021. She previously served on the San Diego County Superior Court from 2020 to 2021.
  • From 2011 to 2021, Ohta worked in the Consumer Protection Section of the California Attorney General’s Office, where she served as Deputy Attorney General from 2011 to 2019 and Supervising Deputy Attorney General from 2019 to 2020.
    • In 2020, Ohta helped secure a $344 million from Johnson & Johnson for the company’s misrepresentation of the risks of vaginal-mesh implants to consumers.
  • Upon confirmation, Ohta became the first AAPI woman to serve on the U.S. District Court for  the Southern District of California. 
  • Ohta received her B.A. from Yale University in 1998 and her J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 2001. She twice clerked for Judge Barry Moskowitz of the Southern District of California.
