Judge J. Michelle Childs was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on July 19, 2022. Previously, she served as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina from 2010 to 2022. Prior to that, she was a partner at Nexsen Pruet, LLC. She also was a state court trial judge, Commissioner on the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission, and Deputy Director of the Division of Labor at the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Childs received her B.A. from the University of South Florida in 1988, her M.A. in Personnel and Employment Relations from the University of South Carolina School of Business in 1991 and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1991.
