Nancy Maldonado was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on July 19, 2022.

Previously, Maldonado was a partner at Miner, Barnhill & Galland, P.C. in Chicago, a role she has had since 2010. Maldonado has achieved significant victories for workers in employment disputes, including a multi-million dollar class action brought on behalf of migrant farm workers.

Maldonado is a member of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, and received its “Mentor of the Year” award in 2007 for counseling law students.

Maldonado has served on the board of directors for the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law since 2005.

If confirmed, she would be the first Latina woman to serve as a judge for the U.S. Northern District of Illinois.

Maldonado received her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2001, and her A.B., cum laude, from Harvard College in 1997.
