  • Scott Colom currently serves as a District Attorney for Mississippi’s 16th judicial district, a role he has had since 2016. Colom unseated an incumbent who held the position since 1989 promising to incarcerate fewer people and expand rehabilitative services for people addicted to drugs.

  • Prior to that, he worked in private practice at the Colom Law Firm LLC. While in private practice, he served part-time in various roles including as the City of Columbus’ first Black prosecutor from 2012 to 2014, as a Municipal Court judge in Aberdeen, Mississippi from 2012 to 2013, and as an interim justice court judge for Lowndes County from 2011 to 2012.

  • Colom was a Skadden Fellow at the Mississippi Center for Justice where he worked on advocacy to end payday lending in the state’s delta from 2009 to 2011. Colom received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2009 and his B.A. from Millsaps College in 2005.
